Select Committee on the Crossrail Bill Minutes of Evidence

Examination of Witnesses (Questions 6860 - 6870)

6860. CHAIRMAN: We will not know until tomorrow?

6861. MS LIEVEN: If we know this afternoon we will communicate with your Clerk immediately so that your Lordships and your Ladyship do not waste your time coming in but that is the only outstanding business, as I understand.

6862. CHAIRMAN: Otherwise we have to be here at ten?

6863. MS LIEVEN: I am instructed that the Petitioner's solicitors have indicated that we should know by mid-afternoon so it may be worth your Lordships and your Ladyship communicating with the Clerk in the afternoon to check.

6864. CHAIRMAN: We will do that.

6865. MS LIEVEN: Otherwise we have no business until next Monday and the truth is next Monday is rather speculative so I do not think it would be worthwhile for me to try and tell your Lordships what might arise next Monday but, again, if we do not meet tomorrow we will communicate with your Clerk as to what business may or may not arise on Monday.

6866. CHAIRMAN: So long as we have the petitions we are going to deal with on Monday which are our Clerk will give us.

6867. MS LIEVEN: Yes. All I would say is I would not, if I was your Lordships or your Ladyship, read Monday's petitions until we send a message tomorrow because I am absolutely confident that some of them will settle, but I might pick the wrong ones out of the hat.

6868. CHAIRMAN: All the same, anything that we need to read will be given us tomorrow.

6869. MS LIEVEN: We will ensure that the petitions and the Petitioner response documents are with your Lordships tomorrow.

6870. CHAIRMAN: Thank you very much, Ms Lieven.
