*Lord Campbell-Savours to ask Her Majesty’s Government whether, in view of the provisions of the Civil Service Code, the Code of Conduct for special advisers and the employment contract for special advisers, the Chancellor of the Exchequer will review the arrangements for the employment of H M Treasury’s special advisers in the light of criticisms made of Members of Parliament by a special adviser; and whether the arrangements for the state funding of political advisers will be reviewed.

7   Cabinet Office: standards-setting bodies (Balloted debate) Lord Norton of Louth moved for papers relating to the case for putting standards-setting bodies falling within the responsibility of the Cabinet Office on a statutory footing. After debate, the motion was withdrawn.

8   Home Office: restructuring Lord Falconer of Thoroton repeated a ministerial statement made in the House of Commons.

9   Children (Balloted debate) Lord Northbourne moved for papers relating to the rights of the child and to the role of stability and family life in the well-being of children with particular reference to the recently published UNICEF report, Child Poverty in Perspective: An overview of child well-being in rich countries. After debate, the motion was withdrawn.

10   Immigration and Nationality (Fees) Regulations 2007 Baroness Scotland of Asthal moved that the draft Regulations laid before the House on 15 March be approved. After debate, the motion was agreed to.
