Judicial Business
1. Regina v. Secretary of State for the Home Department (Respondent) ex parte Khadir (FC) (Appellant)—The cause was considered; it was ordered and adjudged that the Order of the Court of Appeal of 3rd April 2003 be affirmed and the appeal dismissed; and that there be no order for costs in this House, save that the publicly-funded costs of the appellant in this House be subject to a detailed assessment in accordance with Regulations made pursuant to section 11 of the Access to Justice Act 1999. [2005] UKHL 39
2. In re J (a child) (FC)—The cause was considered; it was ordered and adjudged that the Order of the Court of Appeal of 2nd April 2004 be set aside and the Order of Mr Justice Hughes in the Principal Registry of the Family Division of the High Court of Justice of 31st October 2003 restored; and that the respondent do pay to the appellant her costs in the Court of Appeal and in this House, the amount of such last-mentioned costs to be certified by the Clerk of the Parliaments if not agreed between the parties; and that the costs of the appellant in this House be taxed in accordance with the Access to Justice Act 1999. The petition of the appellants praying that the time for lodging the statement and appendix and setting down the cause for hearing might be extended to 20th July (the agents for the respondents consenting thereto) was presented; and it was ordered as prayed (lodged 14th June).
5. Appeal Committee—The 10th Report from the Appeal Committee was agreed to and the following Order was made—
In re Marotta (Petitioner) (application for a writ of Habeas Corpus) (Northern Ireland)—That leave to appeal be refused.
The House was adjourned during pleasure.

Public Business
11. Business of the House—It was moved by the Lord President (Baroness Amos) that the debates on the motions in the names of the Lord Puttnam and the Lord Pendry set down for today shall each be limited to 2½ hours; the motion was agreed to.
12. The arts and urban regeneration (2½-hour debate)—It was moved by the Lord Puttnam that there be laid before the House papers relating to the contribution made by the arts to urban regeneration; after debate, the motion was (by leave of the House) withdrawn.
13. Sport (2½-hour debate)—It was moved by the Lord Pendry that there be laid before the House papers relating to the development of sport in local communities and its contribution to the achievement of sporting excellence; after debate, the motion was (by leave of the House) withdrawn.
14. Fishery Limits (United Kingdom) Bill [HL]—It was moved by the Lady Saltoun of Abernethy that the bill be now read a second time; after debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
