Public Business
3. Ageing population—It was moved by the Lord Peston that this House takes note of the Report of the Select Committee on Economic Affairs on Aspects of the Economics of an Ageing Population (4th Report, HL Paper 179); after debate, the motion was agreed to.
4. Asylum (EUC Report)—The Baroness Harris of Richmond asked Her Majesty’s Government, further to the report from the Select Committee on the European Union, Handling EU asylum claims: new approaches examined (11th Report, HL Paper 74), what progress they have made in developing their proposals for regional protection areas and what view they take of the proposals of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for the determination of asylum claims on an European Union basis, including the establishment of European Union reception centres; after debate, the question was answered by the Lord Davies of Oldham.
