Judicial Business
1. Regina v. Secretary of State for the Home Department (Respondent) ex parte Dudson (FC) (Petitioner) and one other actionThe petition of Anthony Dudson praying for leave to appeal was presented and referred to an Appeal Committee. The petitioners certificate of public funding was lodged.
2. Regina v. Secretary of State for Work and Pensions (Respondent) ex parte Kehoe (Petitioner)The petition of Mary Kehoe praying for leave to appeal was presented and referred to an Appeal Committee.
3. Appeal CommitteeThe 50th Report from the Appeal Committee was agreed to and the following Order was made
Trennery (Respondent) v. West (Her Majestys Inspector of Taxes) (Petitioner) and four other actionsThat leave to appeal be given on terms that the petitioner do pay the respondents costs in this House in any event and the costs in the courts below be at the discretion of the House; and that the petition of appeal be lodged by 3rd June next.
4. Appeal CommitteeThe 51st Report from the Appeal Committee was agreed to and the following Order was made
Regina v. Ashworth Hospital Authority (now Mersey Care National Health Service Trust) (Appellants) ex parte Munjaz (FC) (Respondent)That the petition of MIND that they might be heard or otherwise intervene in the said appeal be allowed and that, in the event of costs being awarded in favour of the appellants against MIND, such costs be limited to the sum of £1000 or 5% of the respondents costs, whichever is the lesser, pursuant to Civil Procedure Rule 44.3.

9. Procedure of the HouseThe 2nd Report from the Select Committee was made and ordered to be printed. (HL Paper 99)

10. Civil Service (No. 2) Bill [HL]The bill was read a third time; a privilege amendment was agreed to; the bill was passed and sent to the Commons.
11. Children Bill [HL]The House again resolved itself into a Committee upon the bill; amendments were moved and (by leave of the Committee) withdrawn; the House was resumed.
12. Northern Ireland Act 1998 and Northern Ireland Act 2000 (Modification) Order 2004It was moved by the Baroness Farrington of Ribbleton that the Order laid before the House on 20th April be approved; after debate, the motion was agreed to.
13. Direction given by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland under Section 51B of the Northern Ireland Act 1998It was moved by the Baroness Farrington of Ribbleton that the Direction laid before the House on 28th April be approved; the motion was agreed to.
The House was adjourned during pleasure.

14. Children Bill [HL]The House again resolved itself into a Committee upon the bill; amendments were moved and (by leave of the Committee) withdrawn; the House was resumed after amendment 125.
