Judicial Business
1. Regina v. Ashworth Hospital Authority (Petitioners) and another ex parte Brogan (Respondent) (England)The appeal of the Ashworth Hospital Authority was presented and it was ordered, notwithstanding Standing Order VI, that the statement and appendix thereto be lodged on or before 2nd October next.
2. Regina v. Camberwell Green Youth Court (Respondents) ex parte Director of Public Prosecutions (Respondent) (G (by his mother and litigation friend) (FC) (Petitioner) (Interested party)) (Criminal Appeal from Her Majestys High Court of Justice)The appeal of G was presented and ordered to be prosecuted subject to the procedures applicable thereto (lodged 30th June).
3. Regina v. Secretary of State for Education and Employment and others (Respondents) ex parte Williamson and others (Petitioners)The petition of Philip Williamson praying for leave to appeal notwithstanding that the time limited by Standing Order II has expired was presented and referred to an Appeal Committee.
4. Regina v. Her Majestys Coroner for the County of West Yorkshire (Appellant) ex parte Sacker (Respondent)The appeal was set down for hearing and referred to an Appellate Committee.
5. Campbell (Appellant) v. MGN Limited (Respondents)The petition of the appellant praying that the time for lodging the statement and appendix and setting down the cause for hearing might be extended to 2nd October next or to the third sitting day after the next ensuing meeting of the House (the agents for the respondents consenting thereto) was presented; and it was ordered as prayed.
6. Kirin-Amgen Inc and others (Appellants) v. Hoechst Marion Roussel Limited and others (Respondents)The petition of the appellants praying that the time for lodging the statement and appendix and setting down the cause for hearing might be extended to 30th July (the agents for the respondents consenting thereto) was presented; and it was ordered as prayed.

13. Liaison CommitteeIt was moved by the Chairman of Committees that the 2nd Report from the Select Committee (HL Paper 126) be agreed to; after debate, the motion was agreed to.
14. Sunday Working (Scotland) BillThe order of commitment was discharged.
15. Marine Safety BillThe order of commitment was discharged.
16. Communications BillThe bill was further considered on report; amendments were moved and (by leave of the House) withdrawn; amendments were agreed to; further consideration on report was adjourned.
17. Mental healthThe Lord Chan asked Her Majestys Government how they intend to implement the recommendations in the Department of Health report on mental health in ethnic communities, Inside, Outside, after debate, the question was answered by the Lord Warner.
