Judicial Business
1. Mersey Care NHS Trust (Petitioners) v. Ackroyd (Respondent)—The petition of Mersey Care NHS Trust praying for leave to appeal was presented and referred to an Appeal Committee.
2. South Bucks District Council and another (Respondents) v. Porter (FC) (Petitioner)—The petition of Linda Porter praying for leave to appeal was presented and referred to an Appeal Committee. The petitioner’s certificate of public funding was lodged.
3. A (Respondent) v. Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police (Appellant) and another—The petition of the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry praying for leave to intervene in the said appeal was presented and referred to an Appeal Committee.
4. Regina v. Special Adjudicator (Respondent) ex parte Ullah (FC) (Appellant)—The petition of the appellant praying that the time for lodging the statement and appendix and setting down the cause for hearing might be extended to 19th June next (the agents for the respondent consenting thereto) was presented; and it was ordered as prayed (lodged 12th June).
5. Glasgow City Council (Respondents) v. Caststop Limited (Appellants) (Scotland)—It was ordered that the appeal be dismissed in accordance with Standing Order VI (1), the appellants having failed to lodge the Statement and the Appendix thereto by 12th June.

9. Papers not subject to parliamentary proceedings—The following papers were laid before the House and ordered to lie on the Table:

10. Sunday Working (Scotland) Bill—It was moved by the Lord Hogg of Cumbernauld that the bill be now read a second time; after debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
11. Contracting Out (Administration of the Teachers’ Pensions Scheme) Order 2003—It was moved by the Lord Davies of Oldham that the draft Order laid before the House on 28th April be approved; the motion was agreed to.
12. Aviation (Offences) Bill—It was moved by the Lord Corbett of Castle Vale that the bill be now read a second time; after debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
13. Marine Safety Bill—It was moved by the Lord Donaldson of Lymington that the bill be now read a second time; after debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
14. Race Relations Act 1976 (Seamen Recruited Abroad) Regulations 2003—It was moved by the Lord McIntosh of Haringey that the draft Regulations laid before the House on 14th May be approved; after debate, the motion was agreed to.
15. Co-operatives and Community Benefit Societies Bill—The House resolved itself into a Committee upon the bill; amendments were agreed to; the House was resumed and the bill was reported with amendments; it was ordered that the bill be printed as amended. (HL Bill 76).
16. Enterprise Act 2002 (Part 8 Domestic Infringements) Order 2003—It was moved by the Lord McIntosh of Haringey that the draft Order laid before the House on 12th May be approved; after debate, the motion was agreed to.
17. Enterprise Act 2002 (Supply of Services) Order 2003—It was moved by the Lord McIntosh of Haringey that the draft Order laid before the House on 12th May be approved; the motion was agreed to.
18. Enterprise Act 2002 (Anticipated Mergers) Order 2003—It was moved by the Lord McIntosh of Haringey that the draft Order laid before the House on 29th April be approved; the motion was agreed to.
19. Enterprise Act 2002 (Protection of Legitimate Interests) Order 2003—It was moved by the Lord McIntosh of Haringey that the draft Order laid before the House on 29th April be approved; the motion was agreed to.
20. Uncertificated Securities (Amendment) (Eligible Debt Securities) Regulations 2003—It was moved by the Lord McIntosh of Haringey that the draft Regulations laid before the House on 6th May be approved; after debate, the motion was agreed to.
21. Release of Short-Term Prisoners on Licence (Amendment of Requisite Period) Order 2003—It was moved by the Lord Davies of Oldham that the draft Order laid before the House on 10th April be approved; after debate, the motion was agreed to.
22. Referral Orders (Amendment of Referral Conditions) Regulations 2003—It was moved by the Lord Davies of Oldham that the draft Regulations laid before the House on 1st May be approved; after debate, the motion was agreed to.
