2. Her Majesty’s Commissioners of Customs and Excise (Petitioners) v. Electronic Data Systems Limited (Respondents)—The petition of Her Majesty’s Commissioners of Customs and Excise praying for leave to appeal notwithstanding that the time limited by Standing Order II has expired was presented and referred to an Appeal Committee.

Select Committee Report
6. European Union—The 27th Report from the Select Committee, Government Responses: Mid-Term Review of the Common Agricultural Policy: External Implications; and The Future Status of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, was made; it was ordered that the Report be printed. (HL Paper 114).

7. Communications Bill—The House again resolved itself into a Committee upon the bill; amendments were moved and (by leave of the Committee) withdrawn; the House was resumed.

European Union (Accessions) Bill—A bill to make provision consequential on the treaty concerning the accession of the Czech Republic, the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Cyprus, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of Malta, the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Slovenia and the Slovak Republic to the European Union, signed at Athens on 16th April 2003; and to make provision in relation to the entitlement of nationals of certain acceding States to enter or reside in the United Kingdom as workers was brought from the Commons, read a first time and ordered to be printed. 11. European Union (Accessions) Bill—It was ordered that the Explanatory Notes relating to the bill be printed. (HL Bill 72-EN).
12. Gypsies and travellers—The Lord Avebury asked Her Majesty’s Government what they intend to do to address the social deprivation of Gypsies and travellers; after debate, the question was answered by the Lord Evans of Temple Guiting.
