1. Leave of Absence—Leave of absence was granted to the Lord Chancellor for Wednesday 11th June.
Judicial Business
2. Sheldrake (Respondent) v. Director of Public Prosecutions (Appellant) (Criminal Appeal from Her Majesty’s High Court of Justice)—The appeal of the Director of Public Prosecutions was presented and ordered to be prosecuted subject to the procedures applicable thereto.
3. Adams (Respondent) v. Bracknell Forest Borough Council (Petitioners)—The petition of Bracknell Forest Borough Council praying for leave to appeal was presented and referred to an Appeal Committee.
4. Regina v. Simpson (Petitioner)—The petition of Ian McDonald Simpson praying for leave to appeal in accordance with the Criminal Appeal Act 1968 was presented and referred to an Appeal Committee.
5. Regina v. Connor and another (Appellants) (On Appeal from the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division))—

The Lord Chancellor was joined to the appeals on behalf of the Crown in accordance with section 5 of the Human Rights Act 1998.

9. Globalisation—It was moved by the Lord Peston that this House takes note of the Report of the Select Committee on Economic Affairs on Globalisation (First Report, HL Paper 5-I); after debate, the motion was agreed to.
10. Fire Services Bill—A bill to confer power to set or modify the conditions of service of members of fire brigades and to give directions to fire authorities was brought from the Commons, read a first time and ordered to be printed. (HL Bill 71)
11. Fire Services Bill—It was ordered that the Explanatory Notes relating to the bill be printed. (HL Bill 71-EN)
1. 12. Stability and Growth Pact (EUC Report)—It was moved by the Lord Radice that this House takes note of the Report of the European Union Committee on The Stability and Growth Pact (13th Report, HL Paper 72); after debate, the motion was agreed to.
13. Monetary Policy—It was moved by the Lord Peston that this House takes note of the Report of the Select Committee on Economic Affairs on The MPC and Recent Developments in Monetary Policy (2nd Report, HL Paper 66); the motion was agreed to.
