The Lying in State of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen
Mother
73. Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth
The Queen Mother on 30 March 2002, Parliament was recalled during the
Easter recess and met on 3 April when the Leader of the House moved
that an Humble Address be presented to Her Majesty The Queen to express
the sympathy of the House. The Lying in State in Westminster Hall took
place from Friday, 5 April until the day of the funeral on Tuesday,
9 April. A description of the ceremonies in the Hall appeared in the
