RENAMING OF ENGLISH TOURIST BOARD: CONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS |

AMENDMENTS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM ACT 1969 |
| | 1. Amend the Development of Tourism Act 1969 in accordance with the following provisions of this Part of this Schedule.
|
| | 2. In section 1 (establishment of the English Tourist Board etc) for "English Tourist Board", wherever occurring, substitute "English Tourism Council".
|
| | 3. - (1) Amend section 2 (general functions and powers of Tourist Boards) as follows.
|
| |
(2) In subsection (1) (main functions) for "the English Tourist Board" substitute "the English Tourism Council".
|
| |
(3) In subsection (5) (duty of the English Tourist Board etc to co-operate with organisations discharging corresponding functions)-
|
| |
(a) for "the English Tourist Board" substitute "the English Tourism Council", |
| |
(b) after "corresponding to those of" insert "the Council and", |
| |
(c) after "the countries for which" insert "the Council and", and |
| |
(d) after "each of" insert "that Council and". |
| | 4. - (1) Amend section 3 (general schemes of assistance for tourist projects) as follows.

(2) In subsection (1) (duty of British Tourist Authority to prepare schemes)-
|
| |
(a) for "the English Tourist Board" substitute "the English Tourism Council", and |
| |
(b) after "financial assistance by" insert "that Council and". |
| |
(3) In subsection (5) (variation or revocation of scheme) for "the English Tourist Board" substitute "the English Tourism Council".

| | 5. In section 5(1) (duty of the English Tourist Board etc to advise ministers and public bodies on matters relating to tourism) for "the English Tourist Board" substitute "the English Tourism Council".

| | 6. In section 17(3)(a) (provision by Order in Council for the establishment of criteria for classifying or grading hotels etc) for "the English Tourist Board" substitute "the English Tourism Council".
