Criminal Justice (Mode of Trial) Bill [H.L.]

This is the Criminal Justice (Mode of Trial) Bill [H.L.], as introduced in the House of Lords on 18th November 1999.

 

 

The Government have announced that they shall not be proceeding with this Bill and that they shall introduce a No.2 Bill in the House of Commons this session.

EUROPEAN CONVENTION ON HUMAN RIGHTS

The Lord Bassam of Brighton has made the following statement under section 19(1)(a) of the Human Rights Act 1998:

In my view the provisions of the Criminal Justice (Mode of Trial) Bill [H.L.] are compatible with the Convention rights.
