Housing Renewal Grants (Amendment) (England)
Regulations 2008 (S.I. 2008/1190)
- The Committee has requested a memorandum on the
following points—
(1) What is the purpose of the inclusion of the
definition of "the 1996 Act" in regulation 2?
(2) Why does the amendment made by regulation
4(8(a) omit the word "or" in the first place where it
occurs after the words "guarantee credit" and not where
it occurs immediately before these words?
- We confirm that the definition of "the 1996
Act" contained in regulation 2 is otiose. It was needed in
an earlier draft of the Regulations but was not removed when the
draft was revised. However, the presence of this definition has
no effect on the remaining provisions.
- We accept that in making the amendment made by
regulation 4(8)(a) we should have omitted the word "or"
where it occurs before the words "guarantee credit"
and not after those words.
- The Department apologises for these minor errors.
We will ensure that the errors are corrected when we next make
substantive changes to the Regulations.
