Joint Committee on Human Rights Twenty-Seventh Report

1  Report

We received the Government's Response to our Eleventh Report of Session 2007-08, The Use of Restraint in Secure Training Centres (HL Paper 65, HC 378) in the form of a memorandum from David Hanson MP, Minister of State at the Ministry of Justice, and Beverley Hughes MP, Minister of State, Department for Children, Schools and Families, dated 9 July. The Government Response was received more than four months after the publication of our Report, well beyond the usual period of two months within which the Government has agreed to respond to select committee reports. We note the Ministers' explanation, that consultation with the Prison Service and Youth Justice Board was required in relation to many of our recommendations. We publish the memorandum with this Report and will comment as appropriate on its contents in future Reports.
