Appendix 1: Letter from Mr Roger K Daw, Director of Policy, CPS, dated 8 July 2008

The Director of Public Prosecutions has asked me to forward to you the information that he undertook to provide to your Committee this afternoon concerning the number of current Trident cases when he appeared in front of you earlier today.

The number of Trident cases which are post-charge but which have not yet been concluded in the courts is 17.

In 15 of these cases, witness anonymity orders in respect of civilian witnesses have either been granted by the court or were to have been sought by the prosecution, pre-Davis.

I hope the Committee finds this information helpful.
