1.1  Subsection (5) of Section 3 of the House of Commons Members' Fund Act 1939 requires the Government Actuary to report on the general financial position of the Fund at intervals of not more than five years. My last report related to the position at at 30 September 2003.

  1.2  I now submit my report on the position as at 30 September 2006. This report is addressed to the Trustees of the Fund. The House of Commons Members' Fund is not an occupational pension scheme so the requirements of the Guidance Note No 9, issued jointly by the Institute and the Faculty of Actuaries and adopted by the Board for Actuarial Standards on 19 May 2006, are not applicable.
