Carer's Allowance
Mrs. Moon: To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions how many people in Bridgend constituency have ceased to receive carer's allowance having reached pensionable age in each of the last five years. [59981]

Mrs. McGuire: The administration of carer's allowance is a matter for the chief executive of the Disability and Carers Service, Mr. Terry Moran. He willwrite to my hon. Friend with the information requested.
You asked the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, how many people in Bridgend constituency have ceased to receive carers' allowance having reached pensionable age in each of the last five years.
The Minister for Disabled People, Anne McGuire MP, promised you a substantive reply from the Chief Executive of the Disability and Carers Service.

Margaret Hodge: Specific information regarding low income for Wales, Scotland and the English regions of Great Britain is available in the latest publication of Households Below Average Income 199495 to 200405". The threshold of below 60 per cent. contemporary median income is the most commonly used in reporting trends in low income.
The data source does not allow us to provide robust estimates below regional level and, therefore, estimates for the number of children living in poverty in Easington for the past five years are not available.
Mr. Crabb: To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions what proportion of children in Wales were living in poverty in (a) 1979, (b) 1997 and (c) 2005. [58462]

The threshold of below 60 per cent. contemporary median income is the most commonly used in reporting trends in low income.
The specific information requested is not available; however I have provided three-year averages showing the proportions of children in low income households in Wales on both before and after housing costs bases in the following table. Similar figures for the proportions of children living in poverty in 1979 are not available.
