Memorandum from Michael O'Gara
I write as a private individual whose interest
in light pollution is as one of many "green issues"
I have championed. I was already involved in environmental issues
when, in the 1970's, my interest in energy conservation, lead
me, as a member of the London Electricity Consultative Council,
to persuade them to pass resolution in favour of thermal insulation.
To champion against light pollution is another way to help conserve
energy as much fuel is spent on wasteful and unnecessary lighting.
Responsible outdoor lighting should be encouraged, glare on obstructive
light trespass controlled, and so the beauty of our night skies
will be preserved.
