APPENDIX 7

PART OF THE LOCAL PLAN MENTIONING LIGHT POLLUTION

4.17  The floodlighting of key buildings can greatly enhance an appropriate environment. However, lighting proposals can cause light pollution, with an adverse impact on the amenities of local residents. Therefore, the Council will give favourable consideration only to those schemes that are energy efficient, where there is no significant impact on the surrounding countryside, and where there is no material effect on the amenity of local residents.

POLICY WBE8: FLOODLIGHTING

The Council will encourage the floodlighting of key buildings in the environment provided that the light is carefully controlled, so as not to cause excessive light pollution from light spill.
Implementation: Target key buildings.
Monitoring: Projects achieved on the ground.
