PARISH COUNCIL MEETING—CEMETERIES

  A copy of the press Notice dated 7 November 2000 together with a newspaper cutting (see attached) [38] was circulated to Parish Councillors at the meeting held on 30 November 2000.

  A full and frank discussion was held, and councillors felt that they must write to object to any proposal at the way that the burial grounds at Wigton are funded. The current arrangement has served for a good number of years and the relevant organisations that go to fund the upkeep of the burial grounds are in no doubt that the idea of privatising the running of burial grounds would serve no purpose, and would not in any way enhance what is already in operation.

  Would you therefore please convey to members of your Committee my councillors' objections to this proposal?
