I would however like to draw the Committee's
attention to my answer to Mr Benn (Q.351). It has been brought
to my attention by the Home Office that they have existing powers
under section 8 of the Burial Act 1855 to inspect "any burial
ground or cemetery".
The CBA has recently produced a Directory of
Cemeteries and Crematoria in the UK and I have sent under separate
cover today a complimentary copy addressed to the committee's
chairman, Andrew Bennett.
