For all our vacancies we place an advertisement with Diss Job Centre and they send them to other job centres in Norfolk. Job centres outside Norfolk can access all vacancies via the computer network. Occasionally, Diss will refer unemployed people to us and they are considered along with all other applicants. We use employment agencies from time to time and, on occasions, these temporary staff obtain permanent employment with us. There are a few staff in South Norfolk who have come through this route.

  Our refuse collection service recruits most of its staff in this way. Normally we employ agency staff to cover shortages and if a permanent vacancy arises we will employ someone who has worked well for us.
