B I L L TO Provide for a scheme for the registration and licensing of houses in multiple occupation; to require certain matters relating to energy efficiency to be included in such a scheme; and for connected purposes. BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- | |||||||||||
| Houses in multiple occupation: registration and licensing scheme. | 1. - (1) The Secretary of State, shall, within twelve months of the passing of this Act, make regulations- | ||||||||||

| (2) The regulations shall, in particular, provide that schemes shall require owners or landlords of houses in multiple occupation, as a condition of registration and licensing,- | |||||||||||

| (3) The regulations- | |||||||||||

| |||||||||||
| (4) Regulations made under this section shall be subject to annulment in pursuance of a resolution of either House of Parliament. | |||||||||||

| Financial provisions. | 2. There shall be paid out of money provided by Parliament- | ||||||||||
| |||||||||||
| |||||||||||
| Short title and extent. | 3. - (1) This Act may be cited as the Houses in Multiple Occupation (Registration Scheme) Act 2001. | ||||||||||
| (2) This Act extends to England and Wales only. | |||||||||||
