ANNEX A
Letter to the Parliamentary Commissioner
for Standards from the Rt Hon David Heathcoat-Amory MP
I write to ask you to investigate the fact that Rt
Hon John Prescott MP has failed to register a material benefit
provided to him or his family in the form of a flat at below market
rent from the Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union. This benefit
exceeds the 0.5% of an MP's salary which is the threshold for
registration.
RMT, which provides the benefit, is closely interested
in the decisions made by Mr Prescott as a minister, and the provision
of the benefit would be considered by others to influence Mr Prescott's
actions and votes in the House of Commons.
