Letter from the Secretary of State to
the Chairman of the Committee
During my evidence earlier this week, I offered
to write to the Committee with details of the alternative athletics
venues under consideration.
Clearly, following the submission of the UK
Athletics bid to the IAAF for the 2005 World Athletics Championships,
this has effectively ruled out pursuing venues outside London
for a national athletics stadium.
Sport England are, therefore, currently looking
at possible venues in London for athletics including: Twickenham;
Hackney Wick; Southall; Linford Christie Stadium; RAF Northolt;
and, Cricklewood.
