Mr. Loughton: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what proposals he has to provide funding to assist less well off people to buy houses under the IDA scheme. [126548]
Mr. Redwood: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what plans he has to promote savings by people on low incomes. [126406]
Dawn Primarolo: The Government are committed to encouraging people to make provision for financial security throughout their lives. They are seeking to create an environment which promotes savings opportunities for everyone, based on three principles of fairness, flexibility, and confidence and transparency. The Government have already announced measures to extend the savings habit to all, including the introduction of Individual Savings Accounts, stakeholder pensions and all-employee share schemes, as well as working with the financial service providers to tackle financial exclusion.
