The table illustrates for specimen family profiles the maintenance
requirement; the maximum possible assessment; each child's share
of the maximum; and the approximate threshold of the absent parent's
gross income at which that maximum could arise.
Assumptions in calculating the income threshold are: the
parent with care has no assessable income; and the absent parent
is single, has housing costs of £150 pw, pays 3 per cent
contributory pension, and is contracted out of NIC.
Note: Lone Parent premium and child personal allowance for
18 year olds have been abolished and no longer feature in Child
Support calculations. For the calculation of a child's age see
Technical Data at page 65, post.
