  S C H E D U L E
  RELEVANT BODIES FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 4
     1. The bodies listed in this paragraph are relevant bodies for the purposes of section 4.
 
 
Local authority and other local, area or regional bodies
      Local authority departments holding unoccupied dwelling within the authority's area including unitary, county, district, London Borough Councils, the Common Councils of the City of London, as well as any joint authority established by Part IV of the Local Government Act 1985, any residuary body established under section 57 of the Local Government Act 1985, any authority established under the Waste Regulation and Disposal (Authorities) Order 1985 and any Housing Action Trust established under Part III of the Housing Act 1988.
 
 
Government departments and agencies and related bodies
      The Department of Health, National Health Service, NHS Estates, NHS Trusts and local health authorities.
 
      The Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, the Highways Agency, the Civil Aviation Authority and the Environment Agency.
 
      The Post Office.
 
      The Home Office.
 
      The Department of Social Security and the Benefits Agency.
 
      The Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food.
 
      The Department for Education and Employment and any education authority.
 
      The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (HM Diplomatic Service).
 
      The Forestry Commission.
 
      London Regional Transport, British Waterways and passenger transport executives.
 
      The Ministry of Defence, the Defence Estates Organisation and the Defence Housing Executive.
 
      The Housing Corporation and any registered housing association.
 
      Any executive agency of a government department authorised or permitted to use or carry out management, improvement or repair of any residential building on behalf of any of the above bodies.
 
 
Other statutory bodies
      All statutory undertakers or other persons or bodies authorised to carry out any forestry, husbandry, railway, light railway, road transport, water transport, canal, inland navigation, dock or harbour undertaking or any undertaking for the supply of nuclear power.
 
      All statutory undertakers authorised to carry out management, improvement or repair of residential buildings on behalf of any of the bodies listed above.
 
     2. The Secretary of State may by order insert, delete or substitute the name of a body in this Schedule.
