Mr Bob Le Marechal, CB, Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General, was further examined.

The Committee deliberated.

Mr Jamie Mortimer, Treasury Officer of Accounts, was further examined.

The Comptroller and Auditor General's report on The Purchase of the Read Codes and the Management of the NHS Centre for Coding and Classification was considered (HC 607).

Mr Alan Langlands, Chief Executive, and Mr Frank Burns, Head of Information Management and Technology, the NHS Executive; and Dr James Read, Chairman, and Dr David Bird, Commercial and Legal Director, Computer Aided Medical Systems, were examined (HC 657-i).

Resolved, That the Report, as amended, be the Sixty-second Report of the Committee to the House.

Ordered, That the Chairman do make the Report to the House.

Ordered, That the provisions of Standing Order No. 134 (Select Committees (Reports)) be applied to the Report.
