Mr. Vaz: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport when he will announce the outcome of his review into the listing of sports events for broadcast on domestic terrestrial television. [20380]
Mr. Chris Smith: I expect the advisory group to make its recommendations to me on the content of the list before Easter 1998, and I hope to announce the outcome of the review shortly thereafter.
Mr. Vaz: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what representations he has received in respect of the listing and de-listing of sports events for terrestrial television. [20378]
Mr. Chris Smith: I have received 776 representations on this subject since the review of the content of the list was announced in May, including 28 representations from hon. Members. The majority of these representations concerned the television coverage of particular sports events.
Mr. Vaz: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport when he last met Lord MacLaurin to discuss the listing of cricket for broadcast on terrestrial television. [20379]
Mr. Chris Smith: When I met Lord MacLaurin on 18 August, he raised the question of the inclusion of Test cricket among the events listed under Part IV of the Broadcasting Act 1996. I shall be meeting him again on 18 December. The England and Wales Cricket Board has also been consulted as part of my review, and its response will be made available to the advisory group assisting me in that review.
Mr. Vaz: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport if he will make a statement on the Government's policy in respect of the listing of sports events for terrestrial television. [20381]
Mr. Chris Smith: I announced the criteria to be used to guide the review on 25 November. An advisory group is considering the events currently listed, and the additional major sports events announced on that day, against these criteria. As part of the review, I have consulted the rights holders for all the events under consideration; broadcast regulators and other interested parties on the content of the list, and their responses will be made available to the advisory group.
Mr. Brake: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport how many car park spaces are provided for his Department's (a) Ministers, (b) employees and (c) visitors in (i) London and (ii) the United Kingdom. [19368]
Mr. Tom Clarke
[holding answer 8 December 1997]: The Department has a total of 13 car park spaces; four for Ministerial use and one for use by the Permanent Secretary. The remaining eight spaces are set aside for staff and visitors with medical problems or welfare requirements and contractors working on the premises. All the Department's car park spaces are located in London.

Mr. Burstow:
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport if he will list (a) the cost to date and (b) estimated completion cost of the new British Library building at St. Pancras. [19056]
Mr. Fisher
[holding answer 8 December 1997]: The total construction project budget for the British Library St. Pancras building is £511.1 million. The expenditure committed to date stands at approximately £505.7 million. However, negotiations continue with some contractors on their final accounts and it is not possible, therefore, to estimate the final outturn for the project until all these accounts have been settled.
Mr. Hawkins:
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport how many (a) special advisers, (b) task force members and (c) review body members his Department employs; what is the total salary and benefits of (a) to (c); and what was the equivalent cost prior to 1 May. [19308]
Mr. Chris Smith:
My Department employs one full-time and one part-time Special Adviser. Prior to 1 May the Department of National Heritage employed one full-time Special Adviser. In order to protect the privacy of the individuals concerned it would be inappropriate to reveal their salary details. However the total paybill for Special Advisers was given by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster in response to the hon. Members for Gordon (Mr. Bruce) and for Kingston and Surbiton (Mr. Davey) on 25 November 1997, Official Report, columns 472-73.
From time to time my Department sets up task forces, review groups or other informal mechanisms. Normal practice is that non-civil servants on these groups are not employed on a salary basis although occasionally travel expenses may by paid the costs of which are not held centrally. A similar arrangement applied prior to 1 May.
Mr. Gorrie:
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what proposals (a) he and (b) the Sports Council have evaluated for the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre; and at what costs. [19763]
Mr. Banks:
My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State has not evaluated any investment proposals regarding Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.
The English Sports Council is currently in discussions with the London Borough of Bromley, who own the site, representatives of sports organisations and others regarding future sporting provision at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. A number of proposals are being considered. Any decisions will need to take account of the Centre's Grade II* listing, which I announced last week.
My right hon. Friend and I are kept informed of developments on a regular basis.
Information regarding costs of these considerations is not available.
