Mr. Cohen: To ask the Attorney-General if he will list the officials in his Department who have declared a current interest; what requirements are placed on officials to declare relevant interests; in what form records of such declarations are kept; and if he will establish a central register of officials' interests. [16885]
The Attorney-General: Comprehensive records are not held centrally for civil servants in the departments and agency for which I am responsible. Civil servants faced with a conflict of interest must declare their interest to senior management in accordance with the staff handbook of each department and agency. Staff who disclose relevant interests do so on the understanding that the declaration, like other employment matters, is confidential between them and their employer. There are no plans to establish a central register of officials' interests.
Mr. Cox: To ask the Attorney-General what recent discussions he has held, and with whom, on the case of Mr. Asil Nadir. [17161]
The Attorney-General: Asil Nadir is the co-accused of Elizabeth Forsyth who is presently standing trial at the Central Criminal court. He has however left the jurisdiction and is the subject of an unexecuted warrant for his arrest. I have discussed the case from time to time with my officials and the director of the Serious Fraud Office.
Ms Eagle: To ask the Attorney-General if he will list those contracts his Department currently holds with EDS, indicating for each the (a) date of inception, (b) value and (c) duration. [17450]
The Attorney-General:
None of the departments or agency for which I am responsible has entered into any contract with EDS, Electronic Data Systems.

Mr. Alex Carlile:
To ask the Attorney-General what plans he has to change the procedures governing the investigation and prosecution of serious fraud cases; and if he will make a statement. [17389]
The Attorney-General:
None. The Serious Fraud Office and the fraud division of the Crown Prosecution Service continue to implement the recommendations of the Davie report as set out in my statement to the House on 31 March 1995, Official Report, column 1309. Copies of the report were placed in the Library of the House.

Ms Jowell:
To ask the Attorney-General what steps his Department is taking to collect statistics broken down by gender where relevant. [17685]
The Attorney-General:
Statistics concerning staff employed in the departments and agency for which I am responsible are normally based on pay and personnel records which include information on gender. Statistical information about personnel can therefore usually be broken down by gender.
